Alanna Fields is a black queer visual artist, born in Maryland and currently living in New York City. She attends Pratt Institute as a MFA graduate student, studying Photography. Her work is energized by a desire to see underrepresented narratives of African diasporic people in contemporary art. Working through the mediums of photography, text and sound, Alanna's work articulates the ways in which these experiences are both, nuanced and intersected, by race, class, gender and sexuality. Ultimately, her work aims to be a lens through which people outside of these experiences can extend compassion and combat prejudices.
