Bio-Akhira Montague was born and raised in New Jersey. She attended a Private school in Vermont, The Putney School, where she fell in love with photography and the arts. Akhira`s subject matter ranges from portraits of people that surround her from day to day to video installations. Her portraits of people aim to reflect her position and relationship to her subjects. At the moment Akhira is working on a new project relating to overlaying video and photography to create moving image portraits that expresses art as process. In the long run Akhira hopes to build a foundation Similar to Gordon Parks.Some of Akhira`s influencers are her family , friends, and the work of Deanna Lawson , Martinn Parr, and Barley Hendricks, just to name a few.
