Born in Los Angeles and raised in Pasadena, Ulysses Hill is 2023 YoungArts Finalist in Writing-Creative NonFiction. Loving to read, he eventually picked up the pen. His writing progressed over time, from just short stories about love into different themes like social commentary. Inspired by Ulysses' personal heritage and influences like Ivan Turgenev and James Baldwin, his current work is self-reflective. To date, some of his awards and recognitions include being a Quest Bridge Finalist and a College Board National African American Scholar.
