Khady Gueye, 2015 YoungArts Winner in Voice, is a 17 year old mezzo-soprano who was born and raised in Bronx, NY. She is currently a student at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts and is heavily involved in the schools chorus program. She has performed Mozart’s Requiem, Francis Poulenc’s Stabat Mater, along with two acapella pieces: Eric Whitacre’s Alleluia, and Pavel Chesnokov’s Salvation is Created. Gueye has also had other concerts where she has performed other songs and arias. To date, singing with her chorus has been the most memorable experience. She thrives off of the relief and rapturous satisfaction of executing such magnificent pieces of music and recognizing the choirs work that they achieved to get to the performance stage.
