Jesse Skupa was born in Wichita, Kansas on December 14th, 1995. From the age of eight years old, he always had a camera in hand everywhere he went. Growing up in small suburban town, photography was an escape from the masculine stereotypes places on men and boys. Finding inspiration in abandoned locations, his work encapsulated his struggle with anxiety and depression through cinematic self-portraits. These ephemeral narratives explore these feelings and ties them to isolated Kansas landscapes. Ambiguous and surreal, his photographs create a moment from a storyline that has no beginning or end. Just a moment.
